The concept at the core of Block Theatre is emptiness. The blocks are neutral and pure; they do not depict anything, and as such, they allow room for imagination and wake it from its sleep. The blocks give the chance to experience whatever comes from within. In its emptiness the block is also full: full of potential to be anything, full of every possibility imaginable. The participants have described the Block Theatre workshops as easy to approach, because you cannot fail in them.
The core of the Block Theatre are the living sculptures that born, disappear, and transform. Working with blocks is an endless stream of passing possibilities. The associations bubbling from the blocks give us a glimpse of the mysteries deep within ourselves. An intuitive block sculpture can tell the builder something about their subconscious, or support them in understanding their life and emotions.
